Ready to have your film featured in a local film festival? Now’s your chance!

The Will Rogers Motion Picture Festival is kicking off its second year and is now taking submissions for festival entry. The WRMPF is held in Claremore, Oklahoma, and is open to filmmakers both young and old with categories for kids, college students and more. The Cherokee Nation Film Office is excited about the categories that highlight the important work of Native American filmmakers, with stories ready to be told.

The Will Rogers Memorial Theater is where festival screenings and the Dog-Iron Awards Ceremony are held.

Will Rogers, a Cherokee Nation citizen, was the biggest star of his time. Rogers was featured in 71 movies over the course of his career, including “Judge Priest,” “Steamboat Round the Bend” and “Life Begins at 40.” He tragically died in a plane crash in 1935 at the age of 55. However, the WRMPF, hosted by the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, continues to honor his hard work and creativity through the film festival, as it creates an exciting platform for filmmakers to showcase their work.

The WRMPF gives you the opportunity to continue the legacy of Will Rogers by getting involved in the growing film industry in Oklahoma. With major film projects coming to the state and the Cherokee Nation, this is your chance to learn more from professionals and peers in the industry. You can also volunteer or submit your film to any of the 13 categories, no experience required. Documentary Feature, Comedy Short, Comedy Feature, Made in Oklahoma Short, Made in Oklahoma Feature, American Indian/First Nation/Indigenous Short, American Indian/First Nation/Indigenous Feature, Children’s Short 15-18 years old, Children’s Short 14 and under, and College Student Short.
